I’m making a list, and checking it twice! …A list of things I need to get done before Christmas. While I would love to add “cookie decorating or present wrapping party” to the agenda, our December schedule is already stressing me out just a bit! However, I have always wanted to gather friends to hang out and wrap presents, since it’s something we will all be doing anyway. We might as well do it together, and I realized it doesn’t have to be a stressful, Pinterest-worthy shindig! We could all show up with our own supplies, play some festive music, and grab a grocery store cake – because what’s a party without cake?
In the spirit of keeping things simple, I figured it would be easy to grab some ribbon and throw together some beautiful bow cake toppers! It’s a 2-step DIY, which is perfect for those of us looking for a simple way to dress up a laid-back gathering. Have I convinced you to add “wrapping party” to your calendar? Let’s do this! In the end, I know I’ll never regret making time for friends!
what you need:
• Wired Edge Ribbon
• Paper straws or treat sticks
• Scissors
how-to:
Step 1
Cut a piece of wired edge ribbon to about 21-25 inches. Tie the piece of ribbon into a bow around the top of a paper straw or treat stick.
Step 2
Fan the loops of the bow out, and adjust the “tails” until you are satisfied with the overall appearance. Cut a small triangle into the bottom of each tail, snipping from the edges to meet in the middle. Place the bottom of the straw or stick into a cupcake, or arrange several on a cake. (You may want to cut the straw or stick down a bit for cupcakes.)
