It’s the heart of winter and you know what that means – snow! If you’re in a cold climate and find yourselves stuck inside during a snowstorm, these glittery paper plate snowflakes are a great way to keep busy. They don’t take long to make so you can craft a whole bunch of them in no time – tape them up on your walls for some wintery decor! The great thing is that, just like actual snowflakes, no two of these paper plates are alike! Keep reading to see the full instructions below.
what you need:
- White paper plates
- Apple Barrel Satin Acrylic Craft Paint
- Paintbrush
- Foam stencil brush
- Mod Podge
- Glitter
what you need:
Step 1
Lay out your white plates on your work surface. Pick out a few shades of blue paint and dispense some of each onto an additional plate. Gather your sponge foam brushes (we used three sizes) and dip one into the first paint color you would like to use. Use an up and down motion on the paint to apply an even coat of paint onto the foam surface, and when ready, use as a stamp on the first plate. It is super helpful to first look up images of snowflakes for reference, particularly cartoon ones, or vintage-inspired ones.

Once you have your circles stamped, use a regular paintbrush to connect them, forming a snowflake! Repeat this on several plates and let them dry completely.
Step 2
Use a paintbrush to apply Mod Podge onto the painted snowflakes.

While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle white glitter over the plate.

Step 4
Gently shake the plate so that the glitter coats all the Mod Podged spots. Pour the excess glitter off onto an extra plate for now – you can reuse it on the remaining plates! Let dry.
Repeat on as many plates as you like! We used two sizes of paper plates and mixed and matches the paint colors, plate sizes, foam brushes, glitter, and snowflake designs. No two are alike!
Tape a string on the backs and hang from the ceiling or put a roll of tape onto their backs and stick on the wall as quick winter decorations!
Happy crafting!
